Carolinas Aviation Museum to feature "Miracle on the Hudson" plane and exhibit
Written by VisitGuides.comCharlotte's Carolinas Aviation Museum will soon feature the famous Airbus A-320 that pilot Chesley Sullenberger landed safely in the Hudson River after the plane struck a flock of birds on January 15, 2009. US Airways Flight 1549 was bound for Charlotte Douglas International Airport when the bird strike occurred. Shortly after it was reported that all 155 passengers and crew had survived the dangerous landing and evacuation, New York Governor David Paterson was quoted as saying "We had a miracle on 34th Street. I believe now we have had a miracle on the Hudson." The iconic plane will be reassembled in the museum's hangar.
Charlotte to host 2011 CIAA Basketball Tournament - February 28 - March 5

The CIAA tournament is one of the nation's premier sporting events and is the third most attended basketball tournament among all NCAA divisions. The tournament week features a wide variety of events including parties, educational and healthy-living components, step shows, and a battle of the bands. Games will be held at Time Warner Cable Arena, with the championship game scheduled for Saturday March 5th.
